Job Description

We're looking for a full-time, salaried hire, based in Chicago, We've got an aggressive bonus program, a great company health insurance program (Blue Cross PPO), a fun office environment (with a bar) about 150 steps from Wrigley field and some very smart and experienced search folks to work and collaborate with. 

The right candidate will possess the following qualities:

  • Independent and Entrepreneurial : We're a small company without a formal training department.... we need someone who will seek information, webinars, whitepapers, read blogs and stay up to speed on trends. You gotta have drive my friend.
  • Karma + Energy : We work very hard and expect our employees to do the same. It IS the startup life after all. We promise not to call you at 2am unless its really, really important.
  • Funny: We're a goofy bunch. You should be too.

Skills

SEM (The more experience here the better, but at the minimum we’re looking for 2 years of paid search experience, and at least 1 year of experience managing client accounts): 

- GAP Certification is a must 

- Building Campaigns From Scratch – you need to have done this a lot, and be good at it. This might not be your primary responsibility but you need experience to drive the strategy on our accounts 

- Ad Copy Best Practices – You should be able to write copy in your sleep, and be familiar in writing copy for clients who run interesting, tough, and nuanced businesses 

- Managing budgets, optimizing & bid management – This should be second nature, and you should be comfortable managing budgets (i.e. have experience) for clients spending over 20k a month on search efforts 

- Any experience using technology platforms to manage paid search is a plus 

- We’ve got a great production team to help with all of the above, but we need our people on the frontlines to know and understand the nitty gritty. 

- Knowledge of Ad Extensions, Local Search, SEO, Social and Display is a plus. Its not just about keywords and bids anymore and we need our peeps to be looking outside the box on a daily basis 

- Agency experience is a plus 

- You must possess the ability to support the client on the frontline, answering the calls, handling the meetings and running the show. 

- Be able to create a status document, draft meeting minutes and keep the client and our team up to date on all accounts you’re managing

a) You've got an overload of energy - you're hungry for the startup life 
b) You’ve got experience (technical) in SEM and get search. 
c) You’re ready to talk to clients big and small and explain search in both layman’s and technical terms

  • Please answer these 5 questions: (no more than a page total…. Communicating concise opinions to curveball questions is something our account managers need to be good at  How do you think quality score has changed the game in search?  What’s your philosophy on content targeting? Is it good? When should we use it?  Shouldn’t [INSERT COMPANY NAME] just do SEO cause its free?  Have you ever answered a question with “I dunno…. Lets ‘bing’ it?”  We’re ranking #1 for all relevant keywords and have maxed out impression share in paid search… what should we do next?
